MILFORD, Del. (AP) - The Milford-based upholstery and sewing company First State Manufacturing has announced that it is adding more than 25 new positions.
FSM Director of Marketing Lori Tovcimak-Speed tells the Wilmington News Journal that the company wants to put people to work "as soon as possible." Filling the new positions will expand FSM's workforce by nearly a third - growth that will equal the number of jobs the company has added over the last three years.
FSM is now looking to add a second shift to its operations, which mostly focus on industrial sewing jobs for government agencies. Contracts include providing seat covers, headrests and various textile assemblies for clients like the Washington, D.C. Metro System.
The hiring boom is being driven by three contracts the company recently landed with Amtrak.
