Off-Track Betting Okayed at Virginia Sports Bar

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The Virginia Racing Commission has approved a new off-track betting parlor in Henrico County.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports the commission recently approved a new license for Breakers Sports Grille.

The decision allows for the first new off-track betting facility to open in Virginia since Colonial Downs closed its off-track betting sites around the state.

In 2014, the owner of Colonial Downs surrendered his license to operate Virginia's only thoroughbred race track, located in New Kent County, amid a protracted dispute with horse owners and trainers.
