ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - A Maryland Senate panel is scheduled to get a briefing on election-related problems concerning April's primary.
The Senate Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee is set to meet Tuesday morning in Annapolis.
The panel will hear from state and local election administrators about the state's April 26 primary. They will discuss problems that arose in some jurisdictions, including Baltimore.
The city had a crowded Democratic primary for mayor. A group of Baltimore activists has filed a federal complaint against the city and state elections board relating to alleged irregularities. They include polling places that opened late, machinery that malfunctioned and other problems.
The panel also is scheduled to discuss what's being done to prepare for the November general election. Maryland used a new paper ballot system this year.
