LGBT and Muslim Communities React to Orlando Shooting

The shooting at the gay bay in Orlando, Florida shoot the LGBT and Muslim community as word spread that Omar Mateen had taken an assault rifle into the Pulse nightclub and left 49 dead and more than 50 wounded.

He made 911 calls during the shootout with police claiming allegiance to ISIS and mentioning the Boston Marathon bomber.

Meanwhile, the American Muslim community saw another incident that will inevitably produce a backlash especially during this presidential election year. The presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump repeated his called for a temporary ban on Muslims coming into this country. But, he also suggested there be punishment for those who do not report suspicious behavior. Hamza Khan is president of the Muslim Democratic Club of Montgomery County
