School officials broke ground West Salisbury Elementary school yesterday.

The $25 million facility will be state of the art with a new media Center, food pantry and air conditioning.

WBOC reports that Principal Melva Wright said that the new school would provide more space and better learning opportunities.

The current building is one of the oldest in Wicomico County.

While construction is underway Pre-K through Kindergarten will go to Chipman Elementary while First through Second grade will attend North Salisbury Elementary.

It will take around two years to finish building the new facility.
