$74 Million in Grants for Criminal Justice in Virginia

virginia.gov

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Agencies and programs supporting Virginia's criminal justice system are getting more than $74 million in state and federal grants.

The funds were approved by the Criminal Justice Services Board, the policy board for the Department of Criminal Justice Services.

The money will support local probation and pretrial services programs, services for victims of sexual and domestic violence and programs to help offenders transition back into the community, among other things.

Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security Brian Moran says many of the grants "provide essential services that are not otherwise available."
