A measure that would regulate app-based car services such as Uber and Lyft is stalled in a Delaware state Senate committee.
There was a lack of a quorum for a hearing on the Highways and Transportation committee yesterday that kept senators from voting on the legislation.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that much of the problem was caused by other legislative activity.
The paper reports that Uber, the state banking association and several insurance companies support the measure.
There was no one who spoke for riders or the state’s taxi industry at the 25 minute-meeting.
Uber has been operating in Delaware for the last two years.
And their service includes most of New Castle County as well as Dover and beach resorts in Sussex County.
The News Journal reports that Uber has provided up to 40,000 rides in the state within the last three months.
