Feds Call Firing of Pocomoke Chief Racially Motivated

official photo

The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says Pocomoke City violated the law when firing Chief Kelvin Sewell.

The panel said that the city used “unlawful employment practices” and intimidation when Sewell and Detective Franklin Savage were fired.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports the May 19th documents found the actions were racially motivated beginning in late 2014.

Sewell had been ordered to fire officers after they complained of racial incidents.

These included claims the white officers using the n-word on numerous occasions as well as committing racially motivated pranks.
