Boxing heavy weight champion Muhammad Ali died this past weekend at the age of 74. He had suffered for more than 30 years from Parkinson's disease as a result of his fighting career. For many in the African American community he became symbol of breaking barriers in pursuing one's dreams. Delmarva Public Radio caught up with Loretta Birddell and the pastors steward Sylvester Birddell at the St. James AME Zion Church on Sunday and talked about their reaction to the news of Ali's passing and his significance to the community.
