Assateague Island National Seashore Gets Its Own Stamp

U.S. Postal Service

The Assateague Island National Seashore will be celebrated with its own stamp.

In marking its 100th anniversary the National Park Service selected the seashore a one of 16 park images that will be part of the Centennial Forever Stamps Series.

The stamp was unveiled during a ceremony in New York yesterday at the World Stamp Show.

WBOC reports that the image is taken from a photograph by Tim Fitzharris depicting the wild ponies on Assateague Island.

Deborah Darden, superintendent of the park, who attended this week’s ceremony said that the stamp will allow people across the country to see the beauty of the park.
