American Flags Fly Over Delmarva

Don Rush

Delmarva saw thousands of American flags marked Memorial Day.

In downtown Millsboro a sea of red, white and blue could be seen on a grassy area of Main Street.

Hundreds of other flags graced towns ranging from Salisbury, Selbyville and Lewes to Harrington, Georgetown and Wilmington.

Tamara Morgan with the Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Club told WBOC that there were more than 500 flags at the entrance to Cape Henlopen High School.

Wicomico County

At the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center the 14th annual ceremony for the Wicomico War Memorial was held despite the rainy weather.

One by one the 191 names were read off for the emotional day with many veterans in the crowd.

That included World War II veteran Russell Franklin from Nanticoke who told WBOC that he had been attending the ceremony each year.
