Salisbury Mayor Unveils 2017 Budget, Emphasizes Youth Programs

website

Mayor Jake Day unveiled a $56.8 million spending plan for the city of Salisbury for the 2017 fiscal year.

There will be no property tax increase. The rate will stay at the 94.2 cents for $100 of assessed property value.

But the mayor’s budget did highlight programs for young people.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the mayor’s budget provided $6-thousand for athletic programs for young people and $300-thousand for a community center.

The paper also reports $55-thousand will go toward a program that would provide jobs for young people in the Public Works department and city parks.

Another $75-thousand was set aside to reduce the homeless population.
