Firefighters Union Calls for Dismissal of Wilmington Fire Chief

clubpenguin.wikia.com

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The union representing Wilmington's firefighters has submitted a letter to city officials notifying them they have "no confidence" in the department's leader, Fire Chief Anthony S. Goode.

The News Journal Reports that the letter, submitted Thursday, also asks that Goode be removed as chief. It's signed by Bruce Schweiger, president of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1590, for Wilmington.

The no-confidence letter was a result of a union vote in March in which 97 percent of members affirmed they no longer have confidence in Goode.

The letter stays there is an atmosphere of fear and intimidation in the department, and that members are afraid to file complaints about Goode.

Wilmington Councilman Michael A. Brown Sr. calls the union's letter "most disturbing."

Goode couldn't be reached for comment.
