UMES Police Chief Leaves for New Job

UMES Police Chief Ernest Leatherbury is leaving his job next week.

WBOC reports that Leatherbury is taking a job with the Department of Natural Resources Police.

His departure date is April 8th.

Leatherbury joined the university as police chief in July of 2013.

He had retired from the Maryland State Police after serving 28 years.

There is no word on who will be named to replace him while a search is conducted for his successor.
