William Harcum Found Guilty of Manslaughter

Maryland State Police Mugshot

William Harcum was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter and second-degree assault in the death of his uncle Lee Harcum.

In July he was arrested after his 62 year old uncle had been killed in the family’s watermelon fields in Mardela Springs.

Testimony revealed that the two had an argument which resulted in William Harcum using a tractor hitch pin to kill his uncle.

William Harcum took the stand and claimed that his uncle called him a “dead man.”

The nephew said he feared for his life, but that he only hit his uncle to knock him out and not to kill him.
