creative commons

Clean up begins at the former Standard Chlorine/Metachem Superfund Site just north of Delaware City today.

Local residents are being warned that this could result in smells from the area where the work is being done.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the cleanup will involve putting the contaminated soil in a single location.

The Environmental Protection Agency will be looking for dust and volatile organic compounds around the area that could pose a risk to local residents.
