RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Justice Jane Marum Roush is set to lose her spot on the Virginia Supreme Court as Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe and Republicans continue to feud over her appointment.

Roush's temporary appointment ends Friday.

The GOP-controlled General Assembly elects judges, and has refused to elect Roush because GOP leaders felt they should have been consulted before McAuliffe appointed her last summer. But a Republican hold out senator has prevented the GOP from moving forward with their preferred pick to replace Roush, Court of Appeals Judge Rossie Alston.

If the General Assembly adjourns without electing a high court judge, McAuliffe would be able to reappoint Roush to another temporary appointment.
