BALTIMORE (AP) - The trial for the van driver in the death of Freddie Gray will remain in Baltimore after a judge denied a defense motion to move the proceedings.
Driver Caesar Goodson faces the most serious charge of the six officers accused in Gray's death and has pleaded not guilty.
On Wednesday, Baltimore Circuit Judge Barry Williams ruled that the trial will be held in Baltimore. He also ruled that jurors would be anonymous but not sequestered.
Williams is expected to rule on more motions in the afternoon, including one from Officer William Porter, whose case ended in mistrial last month. Porter wants to avoid testifying in Goodson's trial. Porter says he'd invoke his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. His retrial begins June 13.
Goodson's charges include manslaughter and second-degree "depraved-heart" murder.
