BLAND, Va. (AP) - Appalachian Power is awaiting a decision by regulators on its plan to upgrade a transmission line in Virginia and West Virginia.
The company filed an application with the State Corporation Commission in September seeking approval of the $80 million project. Appalachian Power spokesman John Shepelwich told the Bluefield Daily Telegraph that the company is waiting for the case to be decided.
Appalachian Power plans to upgrade about 20 miles of a transmission line from 69 kilovolts to 138 kilovolts. Most of the work will be done in Bland and Wythe counties. A one-mile section of the project will be in Mercer County, West Virginia.
The project also includes adding another 5 miles of transmission line and installing a new substation.
