GOP Hopeful Takes Another Shot at Virginia Attorney General

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Republican Del. Rob Bell is set to announce his candidacy for Virginia attorney general.

Bell is scheduled to hold a news conference Thursday to make the announcement, which has been widely expected.

Bell represents an area just outside Charlottesville and was first elected to the House of Delegates in 2001. A former prosecutor who now works in private practice, Bell unsuccessfully pursued the GOP nomination for attorney general in 2013.

In the 2017 race, the Republican nominee will face incumbent Democrat Mark Herring, who announced his decision to run for re-election and not pursue the governorship earlier this year.
