WHALEYVILLE, Md. (AP) - The Worcester County Sheriff's Office says a truck driver was killed when his rig overturned in Whaleyville.

It happened about 10:15 a.m. Monday on Sheppards Crossing Road. Deputies say 55-year-old Michael Smith of Lewes, Delaware, was driving a tractor trailer when it ran off the road onto the shoulder.

Authorities say Smith overcorrected, causing the tractor trailer to cross the center line and overturn.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
