DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware House Majority Leader Valerie Longhurst is being criticized for an email response she sent to the University of Delaware and one of its employees who questioned and criticized lawmakers over exclusive raises.

TheWilmington News Journalthat Fran Fletcher, a policy scientist at the university, recently sent an email from her university account to Longhurst and other lawmakers. In the email, Fletcher expresses her disgust toward the raises.

Longhurst replied and explained how the raises were given. She said that lawmakers control funding for Delaware's institutes of higher education.

Some lawmakers say Longhurst was intimidating and bullying a constituent who was only exercising her right as a taxpayer.

Longhurst said Wednesday that the parties involved have communicated and moved forward.
