Report on Student Arrest by ABC Police in Virginia, Released

twitter

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The administration of Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has released a detailed internal investigative report into the bloody arrest of a University of Virginia student by three state liquor agents that prompted allegations of racism.

McAuliffe's administration said Tuesday that it was able to release the report because the three officers involved had waived protection of their personnel information.

Republican lawmakers had previously criticized the McAuliffe administration for not releasing the report by the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Department, which cleared its officers of any wrongdoing.

University of Virginia student Martese Johnson's arrest in March caused a furor after photos and video of the 20-year-old, pinned to the sidewalk by an officer and bleeding from the head, were circulated widely on social media.
