Delaware Lawmakers Brace for New Revenue Forecast

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP)- The panel that sets Delaware's official revenue projections is updating its fiscal forecast.
    
The Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Council is set to meet Monday to update revenue projections for the current and upcoming fiscal years.
    
The meeting is the council's first since lawmakers passed a $3.9 billion spending plan for the current year on July 1.
    
In stringing together this year's budget, which is about 2.5 percent higher than last year's, lawmakers braced themselves for potentially painful decisions in the future, given troubling revenue projections for fiscal 2017.
    
Officials have said the gap between projected revenue and spending expectations could exceed $100 million next year.
