BALTIMORE (AP) - Four months after six Baltimore police officers were charged in the death of Freddie Gray, defense attorneys and prosecutors will appear before a judge who will determine how the case will move forward.
Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams will address three key issues at the hearing on Wednesday: Whether State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby will prosecute the case, whether the charges will be dismissed and whether the defendants will be tried together, separately or in some combination.
The officers face charges that range from second-degree assault to second-degree "depraved-heart" murder.
Wednesday's hearing is the first court date in the case, which garnered national attention.
Gray died on April 19, a week after he suffered a critical spinal injury in police custody. His death prompted protests and a riot.
