TOWSON, Md. (AP) - Health officials say the first case of West Nile virus has been reported in Baltimore County.
The Baltimore County Department of Health said in a news release Wednesday that the person infected with the mosquito-borne virus died on Monday from causes not related to West Nile.
To reduce the West Nile virus-infected mosquito population, the Maryland Department of Agriculture will spray all communities within a one-mile radius of where the patient lived. These include Brookfield, Eagles Nest, Loveton Farms, Meredith Ridge, Misty Hollow, Montrose, Ramsgate, Summer Hill and Windy Hills Farm.
Spraying will begin after 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and Sept. 3.
