Music School of Delaware Gets Its Biggest Donation

Music School of Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The Music School of Delaware has received a $750,000 donation, the largest in the school's history.

The school announced Wednesday that the donation was from Dr. Bill Stegeman, a lifelong music lover and philanthropist. The school has branches in Wilmington and Milford.

Board chairman David McBride says the donation, the largest in the school's 91-year history, will enable the school to move to Phase II of its capital campaign. The campaign is seeking $4 million to put toward renovating a concert hall and other building upgrades.

Stegeman, who has taken violin and viola lessons at the school for the past 14 years, says he wanted to give back to the institution.

Stegeman is CEO and senior scientist at Jackson ImmunoResearch Laboratories, a West Grove, Pennsylvania company he founded in 1982.
