Monday night’s Pocomoke City Council meeting was crowded with demands for the return of fired police chief Kelvin Sewell.

Some even wore T-shirts with his picture on it and with words of support.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the Reverend James Jones with the New Macedonia Baptist church said that there were more than 500 signatures on a petition to get Sewell back on the job.

The paper reports that after the meeting Mayor Bruce Morrison along with two council members refused to comment on the dismissal.

Council member Diane Downing who was the only vote against the former chief’s discharge said that she believed he should be reinstated.
