It could be as soon as September when officials reopen the Cape Henlopen fishing Pier that has been shut down since last October.
The popular pier was found to have structural problems and has been under repair.
The state has contracted to put supporting sleeves around the pier pilings at a cost of $420-thousand.
With that part done officials will then turn to replacing the decking later in the fall or winter.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that officials stress these are only temporary fixes and that the state will have to explore other options down the road.
