WASHINGTON (AP) - It may be the first day of spring, but the mid-Atlantic region is getting another round of winter weather.
The National Weather Service issued winter weather advisories in effect through Friday afternoon from western Maryland to northern Delaware and in some Washington suburbs.
The weather service says snow accumulation by 8:30 a.m. ranged from a trace near nation's capital to 3 inches in Frostburg, Maryland.
The snow is expected to turn to rain in the afternoon.
The forecast calls for about 1 inch to 3 inches of snow accumulating in grassy areas, mostly north and west of Washington. In western Maryland, where winter storm warnings are in effect, 4 to 6 inches are expected.
A few school systems are delaying openings or closed for the day.
