Company Seeks to Help Labinal Plant Employees After Closure

With the decision to close Labinal Power System’s plant in Salisbury the parent company Safran is reaching out to provide jobs at its Texas facility in Denton to workers who will lose their jobs.

In addition, the Salisbury Daily Times reports that Safran USA President and CEO Peter Lengyel said he was also working on seeking way to find employment for workers who remain in Salisbury.

Maryland state and local officials were stunned by this month’s announcement that the plant was being closed leaving some 650 employees without jobs.

Since then they have lobbied the company keep the plant open.

This included a letter from Maryland’s senior senator Barbara Mikulski who got funding for the Chinook helicopter that would have provided work for the Salisbury plant.
