One of Delaware’s most accomplished wrestling coaches has been charged with child sex abuse and rape.
Police say the case against Richard "Dickie" Howell after a 10-month investigation of a relationship with a 17 year old.
The 50 year old longtime physical education teacher and coach at Caesar Rodney High School in Camden surrendered to authorities yesterday afternoon.
Police say Howell has been charged with 15 counts of first degree sexual abuse and two counts of fourth degree rape.
Around a half hour after the arrest Caesar Rodney School District Superintendent Kevin Fitzgerald announced Howell’s suspension with pay in accordance with it negotiated contract with the teachers.
