Federal Grant to Improve Early Childhood Education in Delaware

Latin American Community Center website

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - State officials are touting a $5.5 million grant from the federal grant in their effort to improve early childhood education programs.

Gov. Jack Markell planned to visit La Fiesta Child Care Center in Wilmington on Thursday to discuss the grant announced this week.

The child care center is part of the Latin American Community Center and a partner site that will benefit from federal health and human services grant.

The grant calls for the state to receive $1.1 million annually for five years to build on an initiative announced earlier this year to help low-income families receive high quality, comprehensive services for their infants and toddlers.
