Hockessin Residents Get Update on Water Contamination

Don Rush

The residents of Hockessin are set to get an update on groundwater contamination that is potentially connected to a local business.

The report will be unveiled at a meeting tonight of the Greater Hockessin Area Development Association.

It will focus on the homes and groundwater in the Shoppes of Hockessin area along Lancaster Pike southeast of Valley Road.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that authorities are now looking into leaks or spills from what is now Sunrise Cleaners as well as other potential sources.

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control have told the Shoppes’ owners they must pay for carbon water filters at two homes along Evanson Road.

They are nearly a half-mile from the commercial property.
