BALTIMORE (AP) - The Maryland Department of the Environment is scheduled to propose new safeguards on smog pollution.
The proposal relating to coal-burning plants in Maryland is scheduled to be discussed at a meeting of the department and the Air Quality Control Advisory Council in Baltimore on Monday.
The Sierra Club and other stakeholders are scheduled to testify on the need for new protections.
The Sierra Club says it will urge the council to tell the department that it must require state-of-the-art controls on all coal units in Maryland.
