Switchblade and Laser Pointer Sales To be Banned in OC

There will be no more sales of switch blades or laser pointers in Ocean City effective Memorial Day weekend.

The Ocean City Town Council is set to enact those bans on an emergency basis at tonight’s session.

Mayor Rick Meehan said he’ll sign the measures.

Police Chief Ross Buzzuro asked the council earlier this month to ban the switchblades telling a work session that police officers had been seeing a lot more knives and wanted them banned from sale – especially on the boardwalk.

In addition, the police chief said his officers had responded to over 1-thousand service calls over the last three years involving the use of laser pointers.
