Pollen Worse This Year Because of Long Winter

creative commons

Allergies could be worse than normal this spring.

The Reason: The cold winter delayed the flowering of many plant parts…that produce pollen.

Normally, plants and trees flower over a longer time…evening out the production of pollen.

But this year it is coming virtually all at once.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that last year the peak for the pollen count at Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control recording station in New Castle was March 26th.

This year it was two weeks later on April 8th.
