SMYRNA, Del. (AP) - Smyrna Police say all eight schools in the Smyrna School District have been cleared for any signs of explosives following two unspecified bomb threats.

Acting Smyrna Police Chief Norman Wood told reporters Tuesday that the schools were found to be safe. Students were sent home for the day, officials said.

The school district said in an announcement on its website that the district's central office received the threats Tuesday morning and schools were evacuated.

Wood said a 14-year-old student at Smyrna High School was in custody in connection with the threats.
