Dover Police Officer Facing Possible Indictment for Alleged Assault

A Dover police officer has been put on paid suspension for four months as police and prosecutors look into his use of force to arrest Lateef Dickerson on assault and other charges.

40 year old Corporal Thomas Webster is an eight year veteran on the force.

The Wilmington News Journal is citing sources that say the Delaware Attorney General’s office is planning on seeking a grand jury indictment next week charging Webster with assault.

The paper reports that no details have been released to the public as to what Webster allegedly did to Dickerson.

But Dover Police Chief James Hosfelt said investigators have a video of the confrontation which is considered part of the evidence in the case.

The investigation began in mid-October after a complaint was filed with Dover.

Webster was suspended in early November with pay.
