Old Fisker Plant in Delaware Could Build Cars

DOVER, Del. (AP) - A Chinese auto parts conglomerate that wants to buy failed electric-vehicle manufacturer Fisker Automotive says it will build cars in Delaware if there's enough consumer demand.

Wanxiang Group Corp. outlined its intentions in a court filing late Wednesday as it pushes for a competitive auction of Fisker's remaining assets.

Wanxiang had indicated earlier that it would resume production of Fisker vehicles at a Michigan facility, diminishing hopes of Delaware officials that cars would be built at a former General Motors plant in Wilmington, as Fisker had planned.

A court hearing in Fisker's bankruptcy case will be held Friday.

Fisker filed for bankruptcy protection in November, ending a long, downward spiral that began after it received a $529 million loan commitment from the U.S. Department of Energy.
