Vigil Held Tonight for Dogs Euthanized at Safe Haven Shelter

creative commons

A vigil will be held tonight in Wilmington and Lewes, Delaware for the 19 dogs that would put down at the Safe haven Animal Sanctuary before it shut its doors last week.

Diane Meier, who writes for the No Kill Delaware Blog, tells WDEL’s sister station that it will be like a funeral with people coming together with others who care.

Meier told the station that a few groups were trying to save the dogs before the shelter closed down on November 14th.

But, she added, they ran out of time.

Meier said she is sure all of the dogs could have been saved if Safe Haven would have stayed open until the end of the month as they believed was the case.
