The President of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce has quit her job.
Joan Verplanck leaves just nine months into the position.
She had come from a 15 year tenure as president of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that sources told the paper she cleaned out her office on Saturday after quitting late Friday.
Board members have been told that the chamber is still in the process of negotiating a separation agreement.
In a press release the chamber did not give any specific reason for her departure simply saying that she left to “pursue other opportunities.”
The paper reports that she declined to comment but that multiple sources close to the chamber said Verplanck had a more assertive approach to public policy issues and that she pushed for changes within the organization.
Many, the News Journal reports, felt that her style was more suited to her experience in a much larger state and just wasn’t a good fit.
