New Emergency Vehicles for Somerset County

Don Rush

Somerset County will be buying two new emergency vehicles for mass casualty response and swift water rescue.

Both vehicles serve Delmarva and are intended for events where there are 10 or more people are injured.

Officials say that they are needed for both natural and man-made disasters.

Somerset County Emergency Service worker Robert Price told WMDT that when Hurricane Sandy hit the department had to improvise because they did not have the equipment.

In addition, Captain John Barnette with the Somerset County Swift Water Rescue team told the station taht the county needed a mass casualty trailer mainly because of the the high volume of traffic in Route 13 -- especially for school buses.
