BYOG Fundraiser for Congressman Andy Harris

official photo

Congressman Andy Harris will be holding an unusual funding raising event Tuesday.

The Eastern Shore Republican is hosting a BYOG, that is, bring your own gun.

It consists of an afternoon of target practice with pistols and rifles at the Blue Ridge Arsenal indoor target range in Chantilly, Virginia.

Staff says that it’s close enough for the Congressman to get back to the nation’s capital for evening votes.

The suggested donation: $1-thousand for political action committees and $250 for individuals.

And, says the invitation, the guns will be provided for those who don’t bring their own.

But, it adds, shotguns should be left at home.

Politicians are better known for hunting and fishing tournaments to raise money.

But the Wilmington News Journalreports that Chris Meekins, Harris’s deputy chief of staff, says his boss has traditionally held sporting clays events and this is for those who respect the Second Amendment.

As of September 30th Harris has raised nearly $540-thousand for his reelection campaign after picking up around $155-thousand in the third quarter of the year.
