Many of Delawareans could be paying more insurance some of an estimated 46-thousand properties as a result of changes in the maps from the National Flood Insurance Program.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that the flood zone maps could also impact landowner rights on building new dwellings or rebuilding storm-damaged homes.
The paper reports that some 30,000 Sussex County properties are affected by the changes while in Kent County 7,000 are impacted.
In New Castle County there are 8,800 properties that are affected by the changes.
A public meeting for New Castle County residents is scheduled for November 26th at William Penn High School and a planning session in Sussex County is set for December.
Kent County has already held its own public review.
