The messages that showed up on the Concord High School social educational website that led to tightened security came from an IP address in a southern state.
Brandywine School District Superintendent Mark Holodick told WDEL that the person who is responsible has not yet been identified.
He said that it is believed that a student posted the message because a log-in is required for the website.
Holodick told the station that the message weren’t necessarily threatening but were offensive toward different people and groups.
He said that yesterday as many as two-thirds of the students at the school stayed home because of the threat.
