Chesapeake Bay Bridge
BALTIMORE (AP) - The Maryland Transportation Authority says motorists can expect heavier than normal traffic this weekend on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
Transportation officials say that's due to a NASCAR race in Dover, Del., and a wine festival in Ocean City, Md.
Transportation officials say the best times to travel to avoid the traffic are Friday before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m. They're also suggesting Saturday before 7 a.m. and after 5 p.m. and Sunday before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m.
Earnhardt Appearance
Thousands of fans are expected to hit Dover this weekend for the annual NASCAR race.
And students at North Dorchester High School got a peak with the appearance of famed driver Dale Earnhardt Junior who visited the school yesterday.
He told them he started working in a garage after school and eventually achieved his dreams of race car driving.
Principal Lynn sorrels told WBOC she hoped that Earnhardt’s appearance teaches her students that they can accomplish anything.
Campsites
Meanwhile, Dover is gearing up for the race and taking some extra measures to accommodate the influx.
Contentment Camping has put up sites around the city.
Campsites cost a little less than $300 for the full weekend with 14 by 10 foot tents among other amenities.
Gary Camp, a spokesman for Dover International Speedway, told the station that one of the biggest problems that fans face has been finding hotel rooms.
There are 35 tents this year which were sold out within a week.
And more sites are expected next year.
