Poultry Plant in Millsboro Gets Land Exemption Approval

creative commons wikimedia

The Sussex County Board of Adjustment gave its okay last night for a land exemption that will allow the Vlassic Pickle Plant to become a chicken processing facility for Allen Harim Foods in Millsboro.

The panel said that in giving the company the exemption the firm will have to follow safeguard to protect the public.

But there are concerns by residents who find themselves neighbors of the plant.

Some said they wanted to make sure the water and the Indian River were protected while others had traffic concerns with the trucks that could endanger school children.

WBOC reports that there are still a few more permits and hearings before the plant can open either in 2015 or 2016.
