NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - Members of the Delaware Air National Guard are participating in a local Air Force readiness exercise this week at the New Castle Air National Guard Base.

Officials say about 350 airmen from the 166th Airlift Wing will participate in the exercise.

The event begins Monday with the launch four C-130 aircraft in the initial response portion of the exercise. On Tuesday, there will be a simulated war, with base members engaging in activities to detect various air or ground threats and defend against them.

Officials say no live munitions will be used, but the exercise will include the use of colored smoke and loud noises.
