Maryland Live! Casino Brings in the Big Bucks

Don Rush

BALTIMORE (AP) - State officials say Maryland's four casinos generated $71 million in revenue in August, nearly three-quarters of it from the state's largest casino, Maryland Live!

The Maryland Lottery says Maryland Live! in Hanover brought in $53 million in August. Hollywood Casino Perryville brought in $7.6 million; the Casino at Ocean Downs generated nearly $6 million; and Rocky Gap Casino Resort made $4 million.

Maryland Live! brought in $20 million more than it did in August 2012, and $17.7 million of that came from table games, which the casino didn't have last year. Voters authorized table games in November, and the casinos launched them this spring.

Maryland Live! also opened a 52-table poker room on Aug. 28, and in just four days of play, the casino brought in $350,000 in poker revenue.
